So I've been treating patients with clear aligners since 2004. In fact, my son's a patient at this current time. So clear aligner therapy is just an alternate for people that choose not to have traditional wire braces. Clear aligner therapy is actually an option for, I would say, at probably 80%, 90% of patients who have crowded teeth. There are exceptions to it but more often than not, it's a great solution to a person having crowding or spacing in their teeth.
Clear aligner therapy, at most times, is similar in treatment time as well as effectiveness as a traditional wire braces.
When it comes to clear aligner therapy, you know, unlike wire brackets and traditional braces, which, a wire is in between your teeth, makes it very difficult to clean in between your teeth. The nice thing about clear aligners is you can take them out. So when you eat or when you're drinking anything other than water, you take them out, you eat, and then you brush and floss and can put it back in. So now, you can take care of your teeth just the same way you always have before the clear aligner therapy.
So when it comes to treatment time for clear aligner therapy, it really varies just like anything else does. But I will say to you the average is probably somewhere between 12 to 18 months treatment time.
