Wisdom Teeth Extraction
For some people, wisdom teeth never pose any problems. They grow into your mouth correctly without causing discomfort or misalignment. Other people simply have no room for wisdom teeth to erupt. When this happens, wisdom teeth can cause a number of issues, such as:
- Partial or impacted eruption
- Jawbone destruction
- Tooth crowding
- Misaligned bite
- Infection around wisdom teeth
Because wisdom teeth are difficult to clean, they can also increase your risk for tooth decay, infection, and periodontal disease. To avoid these issues, along with the problems listed above, our Littleton family dentists recommend removing wisdom teeth as soon as possible to ensure a healthy, well-aligned bite for years to come.
Removing Wisdom Teeth
We perform wisdom teeth removal with or without oral sedation. If you are nervous about the procedure, sedation dentistry can help you relax in the dental chair. Our patients have had great success with sedation and remember very little of the procedure. A comfortable, safe, and effective procedure can easily be performed at Colorado Dental Arts.
Wisdom Teeth Recovery Process
Recovery from wisdom teeth extraction is different for everyone. Most likely you will need a few days of rest, and you should stick to soft or liquid foods until you heal.
If your upper wisdom teeth are pulled, you will probably be recovered within a day or two. Lower wisdom teeth often call for a longer recovery time. Throughout your recovery period, Dr. Froning and our friendly Littleton dental team will work closely with you to ensure your recovery is going smoothly, and you are as comfortable as possible.
If you live in the Southwest Denver area and would like to learn more about wisdom teeth removal, please contact Colorado Dental Arts today to schedule your complimentary consultation.
